A Timber Blind Has Many Advantages

Posted by Marylou Biederman in Interior Design

There are many advantages in choosing timber blinds as your preferred window treatment choice.

A timber blind can be made from either real wood or faux wood. In general, real versions are manufactured from a sustainable and renewable source. Such trees are grown on a plantation and re-planted after being cut down. So as well as being relatively environmentally friendly, it also provides sustainable jobs, often in poorer rural areas. Even though the real wood versions are made out of a narrow species of tree such as North American basswood, in effect almost any wood style can be achieved through staining. For those who are extreme in their environmental views, there are options that are manufactured completely from faux-wood.

Wood is generally a good controller and barrier of cold and heat. This means that it can naturally control the temperature of your rooms and potentially reduce energy bills if done correctly. Also, the dark color of wood can also help filter sunlight during times of the day when it is excessive.

The use of wood and faux-wood can greatly embellish the ambience of a room or rooms. In particular it can convey a feeling of warmth and coziness during colder periods. It can also warm a stark room such as a bland bathroom with a white suite and walls, perhaps inherited from a previous owner. This can be complimented by the array of available accessories or embellishments such as head-rails, ladder strings or color tapes. Contrary to the stark room example above, timber blinds can be a wonderful compliment to a room that already has wooden or faux-wood items in it.

The final advantage is that the internet means that timber blinds are accessible these days to anyone with a connection to the internet. In fact, this even provides the option of a complete custom service in providing your perfect timber blind solution.

Of course, all types of blinds have their inherent advantages and disadvantages, but for a particularly natural ambience, timber blinds and their embellishments can be a great preferred choice.
