Advantages of LED Lighting

One of the newest and most exciting advances in lighting is the use of LED technology. While they aren’t as popular as the compact fluorescent bulbs that environmental activists are pushing houses to switch to today, they have several very important advantages over both compact fluorescent lights and incandescent light bulbs that make them perfect for lighting up your landscape.
First, LED lights will last much longer than any other light in production today. In fact, the longest lasting LED landscape lights will brighten up your lawn for up to thirty years. Compare that to the few months that you might get out of an incandescent bulb or the two years your get out of a compact florescent light.
Second, unlike compact florescent bulbs, LED lights contain no chemicals that are harmful to you or your family. Right now, if you break a CFL, you need to take very careful precautions to protect you and your family from the mercury that’s inside the bulbs. This can be a big problem outside where lights are subjected to more wear and tear. While the environment won’t be closed as indoor environments are, the mercury can still stay in the ground and affect your well water or any plants that you have in the area.
On top of these other benefits, LED lights are also exponentially more efficient than any other light bulb currently in use today. In fact, they are about eighty times more efficient than normal incandescent bulbs. This means that when you use them you use less energy, making your power bills lower and reducing the impact that the lights have on the environment. This also means that there are many solar lights that can use the technology to create powerful lights that can run all night on the power that they get from the sun.
