Bay Window Curtain Ideas – the Dos and Donts

Bay windows are a fashion statement in themselves and they should be treated as such. Bay windows tend to present quite a challenge to most people with regard to their curtains. In most cases, the windows are either left bare or they are tortured with all manner of fabric that should not even be up there in the first place. For those that are not fashion or design conscious and can’t come up with any of their own bay window curtain ideas, there is always hope in the form of the ubiquitous interior decorator or designer. Bay windows in the home are both functional and aesthetic in nature making the home look and feel more airy and open at the same time. As such, in order to bring out the full image of the windows even more, the windows need to be treated with care and caution. As an example, the windows need not be burdened with all manner of fabrics that make it look like there is someone hiding behind them.
Curtain ideas to consider for bay windows include using fabric that is as light and as airy as possible to give the entire window and room the sophistication it needs. 
The drapes should also be hung from a rod where applicable as opposed to curtain boxes that only serve as a distraction to the fabric. Last but not least, where possible the windows curtains’ could be hung from rods that have been carefully hidden in a crown molding of one design or the other. The curtains that are used for bay windows should be as light and as simple yet interesting as possible. The aim of the window is to guide the eyes to the out side world as opposed to shocking it with all manner of fabric hanging from the walls in the name of curtains. Simplicity is the key.
