How to Shop For Bedroom Accessories For a Child
Too many bedroom accessories can make a room feel messy. The wrong types of accessories can do the same. When it comes to children’s bedroom accessories, function as well as form, safety and design should be kept in mind. It is not necessary to hire a design professional to put together the perfect bedroom although it is nice to let someone else do all of the work. If a person has to be born with the talent to be able to accessorize a bedroom, then there would be a big problem. Thankfully, the people who are born with this talent have written books and articles to help the rest of us.
To begin, get a notebook and some page protectors. A few sheets of graph paper and regular lined paper should be included. Then add a pencil pouch and put some pencils, pens a tape measure and a small pair on scissors in it. This project folder will hold all the ideas and samples that will be carried along while shopping. Use the graph paper to plot out a couple of variations for the rooms new look.
Next, gather ideas. Home Depot and Lowes have a shelf full of project books right by the entrance. There are books that specialize in design, organization and color for children’s bedrooms. Other ideas may come from magazines. The library has many books and magazines to borrow. In addition, the internet is a plethora of ideas. The goal is to find colors and styles to replicate. As ideas are gathered, they can be cut out of magazines, printed off the internet, and placed in the clear page protectors. Any fabric or paint samples can be kept there too for instant comparison.
Children’s bedroom accessories need to take into account safety issues. The younger the child, the more safety issues to consider. Design does not need to be sacrificed for safety. Take outlet covers, for instance. If the theme of the child’s room is bees, paint the covers to look like little bees…or ladybugs, smiley faces or whatever. Just be sure to use a paint that is appropriate for the material the covers are made of.
Girl’s bedroom accessories are fun to do yourself, with the help of the young lady in question of course. Once the style has been decided upon and the colors have been chosen, paint and glue are your new best friends. Girls usually like a lot of sparkle. Lamp bases can glitter with a thin coat of glitter glue covered with polyurethane. The color of the lamp will still show through and the glitter will be protected.
Kids bedroom accessories should include plenty of storage. Bins for toys and displays for collectables need to be considered as well as easy to access clothes storage. Tell a kid to clean their room and they are more likely to it if they are given the things they need to put stuff away.
Childrens bedroom accessories are widely available. Lamps, bins, chalkboards and many cute and whimsical things are designed especially for children’s bedroom accessories. In many cases, the issue of safety has already been addressed by the designers. They are also available as complete packages based on either a color theme or a character them.
Shopping for bedroom accessories can be a fun family experience. By planning, time and money can be saved. Accessories that are truly treasured will find their way into the child’s bedroom. A well-planned and properly accessorized bedroom will be a haven for children and their friends. It will be easy to keep tidy and will be pleasing to both parents and the room’s occupants.
