Buying a Quilt Cover for Your Bed

In our times when people prefer to stick to their own tastes rather than adhere to standards, manufacturers have come up with many sizes of mattresses and beds. It becomes a chore to select the right size when you are buying a quilt cover for your bed or mattress even if you know its size. First of all, as mentioned, the sellers of beds may make them in different heights and the same goes for mattress makers. Secondly, the quilt covers themselves may be variously dimensioned.
Size names based on horizontal width and length
You probably think that because there exist standard sizes for beds and names for each of those sizes, you will only need to remember the size name of your bed to purchase a quilt cover for your bed. Remember that ‘standard’ refers only to the width and length of the bed or mattress. The thickness of the mattress or bed itself is left out of the calculation. This is because different manufacturers may make their beds and mattresses with different thickness standards.
Size descriptions of quilt covers may not be definite
Additionally, the size of bed covers cannot be determined by the description on its package. For instance a king size quilt cover may be different from one manufacturer to the next. Since there exists no size-naming standard applied to beds and bed covers, you shouldn’t jump to the conclusion that just because the quilt cover is called a ‘King Size comforter’ and your bed was described as ‘King Size’ by its maker, they are made for each other.
The need to be precise when buying a quilt cover for your bed
To get a cover that will fit your preferences in size, you have to know its flat area as well as measure just how long you would like it to drape down on its sides. A nice drop length should cover the bed frame itself plus a portion of the legs. People shouldn’t be able to see under the bed.
Another way you could go about this is to take the measurements of your present bed cover and to purchase something that fits those measurements.
