You are going to have to be prepared to do some shopping around when you decide that you want some brass table lamps for your home. Brass has been used in a huge number of ways, it is very versatile and can be shaped into all kinds of designs that result in lamps that look greatly different from each other – yet they are still brass table lamps. Lamp styles such as candlestick lamps, torchiere lamps or hurricane lamps all make use of brass and they will all result in a lamp that looks individual and different in your home.

It may also be helpful to familiarize yourself with the names of a couple of well known brass table lamp manufacturers.

The Stiffel Lamp Company has been making high quality table lamps using brass as the primary production material. They are ornate looking lamps with the candlestick style a particular favorite that almost typifies the look of a Stiffel brass table lamp. The Regency style of the Stiffel range ensures that they make a significant impact in any room.

Well known for its collection of fine brass lamps is the Baldwin company and many people still track down Baldwin brass lamps today. Baldwin lamps feature classical decorative lines that are timeless and are perfect for placement in an older style room. The company is responsible for a fine array of brass candlestick lamps that are striking in appearance as well as shorter, but no less impressive, hurricane lamps. They all represent tremendous quality and make significant decorative pieces.

When buying a lamp it is difficult to move beyond the sheer beauty of brass. It may be shaped into some of the finest patterns and designs that ensure it is interesting to look at even when the metal has dulled with age. But it’s when the brass is polished up to a high shine that it can look particularly impressive and is what attracts the attention of so many people.

You must be wondering why you should opt for a candle chandelier while many other choices are available in the market! Well, read through for the answers. Either you are married or to be married and desire to have your special occasions of dinner and feasts with your loved ones, you would look for a special set up with special lighting effect and music apt for the situation. What more can provide the right ambiance for such an occasion than a candle chandelier, which would give you the right natural radiance and create a conducive atmosphere! It would certainly create the required mood for yourself and your loved one and the moments will be much more special.

The romance in the air is definitely increased with the subtle light from the candles. Hence, the best option is a candle chandelier. Now, having been convinced on buying one, you must obviously get the best rate in the market. You can have a fair idea on the rates if you browse in the internet for the various models and rates that suit your requirements.

For a huge party that you desire to hold for your near and dear ones, black candle chandeliers are a good choice. The intricate words and the poise of the chandelier would surely amaze your guests bringing you enough compliments for your idea of having a chandelier.

When it comes to the build of a candle chandelier, you may find them being made of various materials but the wrought iron one is the most demanded one. However, the look is enhanced only if you have the candles used in the chandelier match the candleholders. You may opt to buy votives or tapered candles, whichever suits.

A crystal or glass holder for a chandelier would give more sophisticated look as they fill the room with the reflections and patterns from the candles, which would take your breath away at times. This is even bettered with addition of crystal beads or colorful beads to the candleholders.
Pick the right one that suits your needs and décor so that you won’t regret later.

Think about buying an LED model of energy efficient light bulb the next time you find yourself needing to buy a new light bulb. A light emitting diode or LED when combined with the popular GU10 base or fitting is call an LED GU10 light bulb. These bulbs are extremely energy efficient and long lasting. They will last up to 20 times longer than regular bulbs and are also more attractive. When you are ready to upgrade the bulbs in your home, why not try purchasing some LED GU10 bulbs.

Most local and chain hardware stores will have LED GU10 bulbs in stock. There are numerous models to choose from such as flood lights and accent lights. The buyer will see an immediate savings in the cost of energy due to the low power consumption. Another reason to make this eco-friendly switch is that they are mainly lead and mercury free and therefore better for the environment. Due to the fact that there is low heat emission they do not change the temperature of the room or space. Though the initial cost of purchase is higher than traditional bulbs they will last longer and so are the better buy in the long run. During the lifetime of the bulb you will save money by buying fewer bulbs and through energy savings. When making the decision to purchase a LED GU10 Lamp, one should ask the salesperson questions and ask to see a demonstration of the new product. Comparing the coverage, brightness and coloring of the lamps is also important.

<img src="http://www.housetohomeguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/3X1W-GU10-300x200.jpg" alt="" title="3X1W-GU10" width="300" height="200" align="right"" />A homeowner should choose to make a purchase that will make a difference in their finances and the environment when considering the expense of purchasing a new lamp. As appliances and household items age they require maintenance and repairs, accumulating expenses over time. Therefore, it is a wise choice to invest in LED GU10 lamps and bulbs which will not need as much attention or money put into them as in years past.

Lighting the outside of your home can be as simple or as complicated as you want. From low-voltage lights that only need to be plugged in to solar lights to those that you must hard wire into your home’s electrical system, the choices are really vast and varied. Go to any home and garden center and you’ll find dozens or even hundreds of different styles of outdoor lighting. There is such a thing as too much light, however, so look around your outdoor area very carefully to first determine where you need more light before you open up your checkbook or pull out your card.

Garden lights help light up your garden area, patio lights make your outdoor gathering place a great place to be after dark, while solar lights most often line walkways and driveways. You don’t necessarily have to have all these. To determine what’s best for your space, examine it carefully both in the daytime and after dark. Looking after dark will tell you where you need more light, but looking during the day will tell you the best type of light for that spot.

You might want something that doesn’t show at all during the daytime so you’ll need to find unique places to mount the lights. Or, on the other hand, you might want a light that shines at night but becomes its own decorative piece during the day. That’s the best choice for places where lights can’t be disguised. You can find all sorts of different garden designs from serious to whimsical that look fantastic even when the sun is up.

Think of your outdoor lighting in much the same way as you think of your indoor lighting as far as layering light and using it to create an effect. Start with the basic task lighting to make sure pathways are clear and add from there, while you stay aware of where shadows might be cast by each new light that you add.

There are such wide ranging options available these days for outdoor lights including driveway lights. Plans for newly built houses often included lighting along the driveway to give the home a warm and welcoming feel during twilight hours. They can provide function with great style and can give your house a unique individual look.

Different forms of driveway lighting have different methods of installation. These range from do-it-yourself lights to the top end of the scale that should be installed by a professional electrician.

Solar powered driveway lights are relatively inexpensive to buy, depending on the size, style and quantity. They also do not have any ongoing costs as they are solely powered by the sun. For this reason they are able to be installed by anyone. Installation is a simple matter of securing the lights in the desired position along your driveway, usually staked into the ground or mounted to concrete. There are no wires, cables or switches to worry about so there is no risk in installing these lights yourself.

More traditional driveway lights are run from a power source, usually from inside your home or garage. This means wires or cables must be run to each individual light to power it. The wires or cables must be safely secured along the edge of your driveway or laid underground for extra protection. Wiring these lights to your existing power supply must be done by a qualified and certified electrician. There is too much risk involved to attempt to install these lights yourself. While the cost of the electrician may not be cheap, you will have a much great control over your outdoor lights. Timers, dimmer switches and lighting effects are some features of traditional driveway lights that the solar powered ones could not offer.

So consider what funds you have available for the installation of your driveway lighting before purchasing the lights. Shop around for electrician quotes as they can vary greatly, often weekend jobs can be more expensive too. If you cant find a quote that suits maybe start looking at the solar powered options available at your hardware or lighting store.

Do you wish to make a significant cut on your electric bills? Switching to solar powered garden lights is a solution you should seriously consider. They collect energy from sunlight during the day and glow at night using this stored power. In other words, the light they shine costs nothing at all. You can place as many solar powered garden lights on your property without worrying about the electric bill. The result is a charming, well-lit yard that will surely enhance the beauty of your house at night. Having a well-lit outdoor space also discourages burglars from intruding your home. Plus, you don’t have to go through the hassle of working with wires. And since you don’t use electricity, you are actually reducing your carbon footprint and helping the environment in the process. Saving on electric bills and saving the Earth? There is no doubt that solar powered garden lights are a good investment for your home.

Solar outdoor garden lights are also easy to maintain. You simply need to wipe off dust and dirt from the solar panels every now and then to make sure that the lamps are getting the maximum amount of sunlight. It also takes at least two years before you need to replace batteries. Basically, you can just plant solar lights in your garden and forget about them for a while. Most of them even have an automatic light-sensing feature. They instantly turn on when it gets dark outside and they turn off at sunrise—very helpful when you are away on a long holiday and you have to leave the house unoccupied. With all these fantastic features and advantages, it won’t be such a big surprise when these economical and environment-friendly solar powered garden lights will be found in every home in the future.

There are many different types of camping lanterns on the market today. Choosing which one to purchase is determined by many factors, including use. Hikers generally prefer an easily compactable model, whereas RV campers can opt for larger hanging models for their campsites. User safety is also a major consideration.

Battery powered camping lanterns require the additional purchase of batteries. This is an expensive option when children leave it on all night; however, it is the safest if accidentally toppled. If electricity is available, rechargeable batteries may be a preferable choice as they can be charged during the day and used each night. A crank lantern allows you to charge it by winding when it starts to run low. Neither the battery operated nor the crank lanterns have odor or emissions and may be used inside a tent or RV. They are safe for use by children when shown how to properly use them.

Propane lanterns come in all shapes and sizes. Many can be hung on a post or tree branch to provide light for the entire campsite or placed on the picnic table for a late game of cards. There are special cases available to transport them, as they should be packed carefully to avoid any glass breakage. They work by burning propane diffused through a mantel and therefore should not be used in any confined space. The light they provide can be adjusted by turning the gas up or down. Adult supervision is required for children to use propane lanterns.

The time tested kerosene lantern is still available. Proper precautions need to be taken when filling these lanterns. It is important that they do not spill, as kerosene is quite flammable. They should be used outdoors only due to carbon monoxide emissions. Fuel for a kerosene lantern is easily available; however, these lanterns should only be used by adults.

Factors to consider when purchasing a camping lantern are transportability, availability of fuel, how and where it will be used, and the safety of those using it. The plethora of lanterns available makes the choice an individual one.

One recent development in outdoor lighting technology is solar umbrella lights. Solar lights gather sunlight via a collector panel, and store it as electricity in a rechargeable battery for use at a later time. Unlike many outdoor solar lights, umbrella lights usually have an on/off switch, since this is not meant to be ambient lighting so much as direct lighting. Solar powered umbrella lights are available in two basic styles.

The more common style is identical to a normal patio umbrella that is common to every beachfront. It has a central pole with rods extending to the outside edges of the umbrella to give shelter from rain and shade from the sun. The poles are often made of aluminum or lightweight steel, and can either be permanently fixed or have a crank rod to extend and retract the umbrella portion. The solar collector panel(s) is on the top of the umbrella, and arrays of LED’s are either mounted along the inside of the umbrella, on the rods extending from the central pole, or in a cluster that is a separate piece attached to the rod itself.

The other style is called an offset umbrella, which has the support pole off to one side, and holds the slanted umbrella component in the center from above. Many of these are not the rounded or octagonal shape of a patio umbrella but are square. The solar collectors are still on top, but the LED arrays that produce light in an offset umbrella are often spread more widely apart in the underside. However, they also come in the standard LED configurations as mentioned above. The different array patterns give subtly different lighting styles.

These specialized patio lights are a great way to brighten your deck, patio, porch or pool area without spending more on electricity or having to call an electrician.

There are so many different varieties of swag lamps available today, that range from 1970s throwbacks to contemporary metal and glass lamps, that choosing just one per room could be difficult. There are rooms that aren’t terribly well-suited for the style, like hallways and bathrooms, in some cases. But for living rooms, dens, bedrooms and sitting rooms, swag lamps can add just the right touch.

It can be helpful to understand the difference between a hanging swag lamp and something like a pendant light. Pendant lights are hanging lamps, too. But they’re installed in the ceiling. A swag lamp will hang from the ceiling, but from a hook or eye. The cord is threaded through that and drapes over to the wall—that’s the part that’s called the swag. The cord then hangs down the wall and plugs into a standard electrical outlet.

This makes a swag lamp a convenient choice for almost any place in any room, without the hassle of installation. Hanging these lamps above a seating area for reading is an excellent choice, and they look great over things like tables or interesting features in a room. Narrow hallways would have to have the lamps so close to the wall that you’d lose the swag feature and end up making the hallway feeling cramped.

But in a corner of a bedroom or living room, over a chair or other seating, a swag lamp can lend just the right design element. You can go retro, modern, Victorian, gothic and almost any style with this type of lamp. Their popularity has caused manufacturers to create a variety of different shades and looks.

Remember to keep the style a complementary one with the rest of the room. A chrome swag lamp won’t look right in a country décor, and a retro lamp will look out of place in a contemporary room. Blend the lamp in and it’ll stand out in just the right ways.

When you need to replace a solar light or two, there are a few tips that never fail to pay—pun intended. Keep in mind that solar lights usually use nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydrate rechargeable batteries. If it’s the batteries that need replacing, make sure to responsibly recycle them—instead of throwing them in the trash, which defeats the whole purpose of using eco-friendly solar power.

If the batteries are not that old–check them out on another device, and if they check-out good, then it could be your light-sensor. Not all solar lights have one, but most garden/consumer variety generally do. They switch the light on and off at dawn and dusk. If you are not familiar with photo sensors, resistors and capacitors take the solar lamp to a local electronics shop and let them determine if it is the light sensor or something else.

Not the batteries?

If it is indeed an issue with the solar board, why throw-out otherwise good garden lights? Another reason they could need replacing is if the LED bulb simply stops working. Depending on the cost and size of the light fixture, it may or may not be advantageous to replace the whole thing. Obviously, if it’s a cheaper lamp, then the cost to buy a new one probably outweighs the pains of trying to fix it. If this is the case, replace it (or them) with more durable, weather-resistant models.

For larger, more permanent installations, it is more cost-effective to replace only the part that has died or is malfunctioning. For light sources, stay away from incandescent bulbs—as they are extremely inefficient as solar lights. Halogen bulbs are a spot more efficient, but not by much. The bulb you really want will be LED—the energy efficiency is greater than any other.

Which brings the last point to light—choose a bulb that has the highest light to heat ratio—that means that the more light that is gained from conversion than the inevitable heat, the more efficiency will be gained.
