People are always looking for ways to protect their home, family, and their belongings. There are a wide array of home security products available on the market. One of them is a dummy cctv camera. As the name implies it does not actually do anything more than act as a deterrence for thieves. They make a good choice for when you have a limited budget but want to do something to begin protecting yourself. They can be installed easily without the help of a surveillance company and are sold in many stores.

The fact that it looks like a camera is enough to stop some crime right in its tracks, because criminals do not wish to be caught. So, if your home has one and your neighbors do not they won’t likely stop at your home first. Although, since they are not real cameras if something was to happen there would not be a video record of the incident. Basically all the camera is there to do it to make criminals think they are being watched.

A dummy cctv camera can look very authentic, but professional criminals have seen these many times so it is not fool proof. So, it pays to shop around for one with the right features to make it seem as realistic as possible.

Since you are using it to prevent criminal activity but are on a budget the first thing to consider is how much you can afford to spend. Do not spend close to or as much as real surveillance kit would cost you. A fake cctv camera should only cost you approximately $40.

In conclusion, dummy cctv camera are a good option for those on a budget but still want some measure of protection against crime. As criminals are going to search for an easy target. Having a camera in place, even though it is fake, can make criminals think they are being watched which can be enough to make them search else where.

Locked apartment buildings offer security with a telephone or video intercom system that allows you to screen who enters your apartment. However that same protection may be a hindrance in certain cases. For example, if you have teenage children who arrive home at different hours, perhaps while parents are still at work, then each will need to carry a spare key. This creates a security risk if the keys should get lost or misplaced. With two or three spare keys floating about the neighborhood, how safe will you feel? Changing locks is expensive and inconvenient. And what about the elderly who are able to live independently from day to day, but may have an accident or emergency and need assistance? What happens if they’re unable to open the door or even press the intercom button to allow emergency services access? That’s where the small, discrete and very secure digital key safe boxes come in. How?

A home-style key safe is a small box that can be mounted to a wall or concealed in whatever way possible, and holds 1 to 5 keys. In the case of the digital key safe boxes, access to the apartment can be gained by those who know the digital code. There are also combination or padlock designs that appear to be nothing more than a regular lock, although inside there may be a key. For families and elderly people who live in secured locked apartments, the best key safes will be those that are digital. Why? Because they can be mounted right outside the apartment door and resemble a security system with a small digital keypad or push buttons. Systems like the Supra Keysafe made by GE are affordable at under $30, are really easy to use and mount onto a wall indoors or out. There are some slimline models available for smaller spaces and larger versions that hold more keys.

For teens not to have the worry of carrying a key around all day at school, and for independent elderly individuals, the digital key safe boxes with electronic time stamp will be invaluable because the device records the last times that the key safe was accessed as an added precaution.

If you have brass rim locks in your home you will soon realize that they do need a little maintenance in order to stay looking shiny and bright. While brass is not as difficult to maintain as silver, it does require a little upkeep.

The first step in maintaining your brass rim lock is to first of all make sure that it is clean and free from tarnish or grime that does tend to build up over years of use. If it is particularly dirty, or if it is mounted on wood doors you may want to take it off the door first before cleaning—at least the door knob and the outer casing. This is usually fairly easily done just by unscrewing it.

Unlacquered brass requires more care than lacquered brass. In order to keep it from tarnishing you will need to polish it fairly frequently. It is difficult to say exactly how often you should polish it as different environmental conditions can make a difference in how quickly it needs it. Keep an eye on your brass and if you see it getting dull you should clean it right away. Another long-term solution which makes a lot of sense if you have a lot of brass work in your home is to lacquer the brass. You can do this fairly easily with a small brush and a can of lacquer. As a stop gap measure you can also apply car wax to your cleaned brass rim lock. You will need to apply it every couple of months if the door handle gets a lot of use, but it is a simple solution to stopping tarnish from appearing.

On a final note, do not use hot water with lacquered rim locks, it can cause the lacquer to split and peel as the metal underneath expands. They should also not get too wet while cleaning as that will also cause the lacquer to peel off. Use warm water and a soft cloth to clean it, with a little detergent placed either in the water or directly on the cloth.

Caring for your rim locks will ensure that they keep looking great with no tarnish, and that they last for a long time. It is a fairly simple procedure to care for them with most cleaning agents used on brass readily available in the kitchen.

Security is important for homeowners and business owners alike. Access to rooms and buildings is difficult to monitor. Because of this, push button locks are a great way to keep on top of things.

A push button lock has a number of advantages over the traditional keyed locks. You do not have to worry about the possibility of losing keys or the costly expense of having to rekey a lock cylinder if keys get lost. With push button door locks, you can simply change the code that you are using if there is a security concern or a change in staffing at work or a change of who you want to have access to your home.

The push button door lock comes in two main types. There are digital and mechanical versions. Both operate in similar manners and provide you with great security. With the digital models, there are a few more options available. Some even have systems where you can monitor who has accessed the door and at what times. This will give you the highest level of security. Mechanical versions are reliable and do not have these features, but they do not have batteries in them that will eventually run out either. In many ways, the mechanical version is the easiest to set up and maintain, it usually requires very little maintenance in fact and can often last for years without needing any repairs or servicing.

When searching for the model and brand that is right for you, Simplex push button locks are a good choice. This company makes a wide variety of styles and comes with great warranties at a reasonable price. Pick the one that fits your need the best, and you will pleased with the added level of security you have added. There are other great brands available as well. Even within each brand, you can find many different styles of locks. Some are more appropriate for homeowners, while others are more geared for larger operations such as office buildings, apartment buildings or factories. No matter what your specific need, you should be able to find a lock that caters exactly to your needs.

One of the best ways to keep your family safe and secure and also to keep an eye on your home when you aren’t around is to install an outdoor security camera system. But, picking out the best cameras for your home that will last and work well enough to provide that protection is a little harder. Here are some tips to pick out the best cameras for home protection.

The first thing that you should look at is the quality of the camera. You don’t need to most high-tech camera on the market, but a quality outdoor security camera will give you much better pictures and let you see more than just blobs. Since your camera has to work in all lighting conditions, the best ones will have apertures that automatically adjust when light levels change and come fully equipped with night vision for when the sun goes down.

<img src="http://www.housetohomeguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/41C1gkF1nKL-300x254.jpg" alt="41C1gkF1nKL" title="41C1gkF1nKL" width="300" height="254"align="right" />The next thing you need to look at when choosing an outdoor camera is the housing. The housing is almost as important as the camera itself because it will keep the camera safe in all weather conditions and ensure that it will work in peak condition for years to come.

There are several different things you need to look at. The first is the IP rating of the case. It should be rated at least IP6 or higher, which will protect it from anything except being submersed in water. The next is whether you will need a heater or a fan. Most cameras work in a wide range of temperatures with no problem, but if you live in an area that gets a lot of heat or a lot of cold, odds are you will be testing the limits of your camera. Make sure the camera keeps working by installing a fan or a heater to keep it within the camera’s operable temperatures.

Living alone can be an intimidating experience, and wherever a person feels unsafe, installing motion sensor lights can be a quality addition. Easily installed, these light turn on whenever something moves, illuminating a wide area and revealing exactly what is lurking around a person’s door. Purchasing these lights does not have to be expensive, but it is helpful to have an idea of what one is looking for prior to finding themselves staring down thirty different models in aisle seven of the hardware store.

For example, Dr. Leonard produces a simple, cordless light that has a twenty foot range; it retails for only $4. A larger, two-bulb model, the HEATH/ZENITH SL-5408-GR sells for $10 but has only a slightly increased range. However, for $15, the same brand offers a 60 foot models that include 110 degree coverage, a nice selection for home use. And if a person is concerned about installation, the Heath Zenith Screw-In Module Motion Sensor Light offers simple, plug-in, corded protection with a slightly decreased range. In a little higher price range, the Twin Bronze SL-5512-BZ-B can give 150 watt brightness from two bulbs for about $40. And for around this range, Hampton Bay offers several models that have more of a “porch light” appearance, giving off less of a secured fortress vibe for those worried about appearance. Designers Fountain also has more ornate models from $40 to $150.

Any of these are fashionable choices. And if all of this is too much, then there are many kinds of motion sensor night lights. Some are LED, others are more like traditional night light. Still others are disk-like and fit onto the ceiling! These can be easily places in any indoor (and some outdoor) outlets to detect movement and illuminate footsteps. Though they do not provide the wide sweep of light, they can be a comforting brightness in the night. Visit motion sensor lights or motion sensor alarm system for further information.

One commonly used security device nowadays is the motion detector alarm. For the protection of your valuables and family, these devices can be utilized to keep you safe. These devices contain sensors inside them that have alarms set to go off when motion is detected. When motion is detected in front of the set device, which is usually a camera, an electronic signal is sent to the alarm, alerting the user that movement has been detected. These motion sensing alarms are ideal for conditions where guards, or people watching what you want protected, are not available.

Certain models have weight and sensitivity settings available to deter any ‘false alarms’, such as a pet running by the motion detecting device. A few common brands for these type of devices include General Electric, Optex, Visonic , and Rokonet. Prices for simple motion detecting devices can start at about $24.95. Higher end models up into the thousands of dollars price range are also available for homes or businesses that require heavier security needs. Features that vary are the range of motion they detect, wireless capabilities, manufacturer, and the type of alarm outputs available on the device.

For anyone looking to purchase a device like this, there are many retail and online stores that have a wide selection of products, features and prices. These devices would also be available in any department store, or hardware store for home accessories. Examples of these stores would be Wal-mart or Home Depot. Detectors in our age have become more common for a variety of reasons. All of which are helpful to be alerted when the security of your establishment might be in jeopardy. Some similarly known devices are motion detecting lights and smoke detectors. A lot of combination units are also available, such as a motion detecting alarm that sets off a light as well as audible signal. These are also common in households and buildings. So by investing in a motion detector, you could protect any investment with a higher sense of security. Visit motion detector with alarm or motion sensor security light for further information.

So who does have the cheapest home insurance policy for UK homeowners? Well, in this article we will discuss who has and how you can go about getting a reduction off the price of your insurance premium.

Home insurance is a complex product and does depend on many factors such as your property size, how many rooms it has, which part of the country you live and what town. There are also other details as well such as your households no claims bonus and whether you have installed security and safety measures on your property. Visit the Churchill home insurance policy and challenge them to a low cost quote.

The first aspect that I would look at is to shop around and get as many quotes as you can from as many difference suppliers of buildings and contents insurance. Before you get a quote, make sure you have decided what level of cover you need to protect your home and its contents. Do you want home emergency cover? Do you need personal possessions cover? Do you require accidental damage cover on your contents? These are question you have to have an answer for before you get a quote. But most of the levels of cover just mentioned are added extras; do you really need them, as they are what will put the premium price up?

There are a few other methods that could help you save some money such as installing a smoke and security alarm in your household. This will help to prevent a fire and keep thieves out from breaking in to your home. Showing the insurance company that you take fire prevention and burglary serious will earn you a discount.

Is purchasing buildings and contents together as one policy that right thing to do? You might get a cheaper quote if you buy them as single policies and from different suppliers. Try and take the time to get a search for each if you can.

Winchester has been in the firearms business since 1866, and never once in their long run have they compromised the quality of their products. Their gun safes are no exception. While they have a fantastic line of full sized safes, appealing to both security and budget applications, their eVault models are something that any gun owner concerned with home security can appreciate.

The eVault Winchester handgun safe is the perfect blend of security, quick access, and price, and it’s nearly unbeatable when you weigh in all three factors. You’re never going to find a personal handgun safe that is built to keep out professional, determined burglars. The only effective way to accomplish such a feat would be to lock up your valuables in a top notch, high security rated (eg UL RSC) full sized gun safe, like a Liberty or Browning. However, there is definitely something to be said about preventing casual access from your children or less-than crafty thieves. With its solid steel frame, anchoring options, combination lock out mode, and recessed door, it offers security that does just that.

As previously noted, the eVault series is designed to promote quick, convenient access if needed, often associated wit the proverbial “did you hear that noise downstairs?” in the middle of the night scenario. At the time of this post, there isn’t currently an eVault biometric gun safe available (fingerprint scanning lock are regarded as promoting the quickest access), however, the four button electronic combination is a very close second. After a couple of practice runs, one can implement a no-look entry to open the safe in a split second. It’s plenty adequate in the speed arena.

Finally, Winchester handgun safes are relatively inexpensive. The price ranges anywhere from ~$99-$170 depending on your choice of three available models. If you’re only concerned in storing a single medium framed pistol, and perhaps a small flashlight, your best bet is probably the cheaper EV400 model. If you want the ability to store multiple handguns or several other items, you may want to look into investing in the EV1200 – the largest model, a spacious model, boasting an additional shelf.

If supplementing your home security efforts at an affordable price is your goal, it’s in your best interest to consider the Winchester eVault series.

Good lighting is known to be a way to reduce the chances of your home being targeted in a crime. If you make proper use of the right kind of lighting, you are going to make any would-be burglar or intruder of any type think twice about coming into your home, making it a safer place for your family.

Exterior Lighting:

Lights on the exterior of your home are extremely critical. This is particularly true for any doorways at the back of you home, as this is where break-ins often happen the. All round security lighting that is set-up high out of reach, and is tamper proof, will greatly improve your house security and help to protect your home.

You want to make sure that your garage or carport is lit well. An automatic garage opener is the best option. The best of the garage doors and openers in use today also have an automatic light that comes on when the garage door opener remote is used, lighting up the garage and letting you see that it’s safe to enter. If you don’t have a carport garage, consider leaving a light on permanently, having a light on a timer, or using a motion sensor to activate the light you install.

It is best to use a motion detector on all outside lights that are not left switched on. The primary benefit of a motion light for your home’s security, is that when the light turns on, you know there is someone or something in the area of the light. And despite the complaints of a lot of people, if you set the sensitivity of your motion detector properly, it wont be going off any time the wind blows too hard, a squirrel runs across your yard, or the dog or cat moves around. When it comes to the front yard, you want to make sure that the light will cover the entire front and side of your house, no matter what kind of light you decide to use. You can use motion sensors on these lights, simply like the ones in the rear of your house, but they are more prone to being incidentally triggered by people coming to visit, or kids playing.

Inside:

When you go out and do not expect to return until after dark you probably, like most of us, leave on what the police refer to as burglar beacons. Basically, a burglar beacon is an individual light that is left on inside your house, so that when you come back it isn’t completely dark.

Unfortunately, these lights indicate to potential burglars that you are out for the evening. In order to improve the security of your home when you are out for the evening, instead of a single light you should have several lights, and a source of noise, that are set on timers all over the house to come on at various times to give the impression that someone is there.
