Choosing a Pool for Your Home

Adding a pool or spa to your house is not just practical and functional, but is also a great way to beautify your home. There are many options to choose from, but fiberglass pools are the best choice as an addition to your home. Low fiberglass pool prices, durability and easy maintenance are some of the best reasons to opt for this pool type over concrete or vinyl.
Fiberglass pools are cheaper and have lower installation costs compared to other types of pools. Maintenance cost is relatively cheaper than most as well. Pools made of fiberglass use fewer chemicals than concrete pools. You also save on replastering and replacements in the future. You will also use less acid because the fiberglass shell does not change the water chemistry, unlike pools with a plaster finish. With its non-plaster finish, you also need to brush the pool less. Fiberglass pools can absorb great strain, during earthquakes for example, because fiberglass flexes up to 12 inches to 2 feet. This is great, especially for areas that are prone to earthquakes or are near fault lines.
Pools made from fiberglass offer many choices in terms of style, shape and size. Aside from the various pre-formed designs, they may also be custom-made to suit your requirements and preference. A sports section or an outdoor spa can be attached at one end or both.
Prices for these types of pools vary based on the specifications. A basic fiberglass pool can range from $20,000 to $45,000. This would include the pool shell, filtration system, site excavation, setting of the pool, backfilling, filling the pool, filter installation and pool permit. There is an additional cost for decking, electricity, fencing and any other additions. Prices for pools will also vary depending on whether they are in the ground or above ground. The prices for those above ground are significantly cheaper.
