Decorating your Home for Christmas

Christmas is a time for celebration with friends and family. Most people express this feeling by decorating their house with Christmas lights, or because everyone else is doing it. No one is entirely sure how the tradition began, but all we know is that we must decorate our house every Christmas with lights or we will stick out. Of course, not everyone decorates, many people do not feel the need to celebrate Christmas, but if you are planning to get some lights there are a few things you will need to know.
For one, are the lights meant to be on the exterior or interior of your home? If your planning on buying outdoor christmas lights, you must make sure to get sturdy, water resistant, and somewhat dim lights. If you get lights that are too bright it may cause the neighbors to get somewhat agitated. Its recommended to have soft, easy to look at lights, instead of bright, neon, lights that give you instant headaches. Also, make sure that the bulbs wont get too hot, if you have a light bulb resting against a potentially flammable material you may find yourself with a fire on your hands. However, if you cannot pick a certain type of light, you could refer to the internet which will assist you in finding just what your looking for.
If the lights you are planning on buying are for indoor purposes, the same rules apply except they should be kept out of reach of small children and placed somewhat high up. These lights must also be unable to reach a burning temperature, for obvious reasons. So, outdoor lights should be water resistant, attractive yet not too bright, and strong to be able to withstand beatings from the elements. Indoor lights must be small, light, cool, and far away from children.
