Many homeowners hate the thought of having to call a plumber to do a repair in their home. Whether you have to hire a plumber in Atlanta or Chicago you can bet that it is going to cost you an arm and a leg. Not only is a plumber expensive but the situations that require a plumbers service are often unpleasant. Whether it is a toilet that has overflowed, or a septic tank that is leaking, the situations that mandate a plumber be called are often very undesirable in nature. 

So what are some ways that you can maintain your home so that you never have to require the services of a licensed plumber? Well here is a simple tip that should help you avoid the trouble of calling a plumber in your area.
Make sure that all of your drains have screens. This is one of the most important things that the average home-owner can do to avoid drain clogs. If you remove these drain screens then you are asking for trouble. Larger items can fall into the drain unbeknown to you and these can be the catalyst for major drain problems. If you are lucky then the blockage will be confined to the U-trap but if you are unlucky the initial item will make its way past the u-trap and form a clog in the main drainage line for your home this could back up all of the sinks, bathtubs, toilets and any other drains in your home. Needless to say this could turn into a big problem.

Take the simple preventative measure of ensuring that all of your drains have screens and you can avoid this situation completely. Don’t wait until it is too late and you have a major clog which could cost hundreds or even potentially thousands of dollars to repair. Drain screens are cheap and readily available at any hardware store. Spend $10 now to save thousands later.
