The Incredibly Useful and Practical Floor Lamp

One of the best ways to light many of the rooms in your house is by using floor lamps. Because of the way that they are built, floor lamps can literally be placed anywhere you want, removing the need to buy and place tables, or risk life and limb by hanging a swag lamp that plugs in from the ceiling.
In addition to being easy to install and place, floor lamps are also very practical. Because they can be placed anywhere, you can place them in areas that get used a lot but don’t have convenient access to a light switch. They’re ideal for placement next to beds or couches where you might want the lights on until you get into bed or settle down to watch a movie, but don’t want them on after that. For even more added convenience, you can install a touch light that can be switched on and off just through the heat of your hand.
One of the more popular and useful types of floor lamps is known as a torchiere lamp. The word torchiere comes from the French word for torch and these lamps will light up your room just like one. All these lights are long floor lamps that have a bulb with a reflective surface underneath it. This causes the light from the bulb to bounce up off the ceiling and spread out around your room. As the light bounces, it softens out, basking your room in a soft, gentle light. Because these lights can light up entire rooms as well, they’re ideal for use in places where there is not much floor space to spare. The only problem with these lights is that it may be hard to find a torchiere lamp shade replacement.
Floor lamps are some of the most useful and practical lamps around today. Consider using them in your next home improvement project.
