Kathleen Marie Ireland was born on the 20th of Mach in 1963. She would later become involved in a variety of careers, modeling, acting, and finally the designer and CEO of her own company, the Kathy Ireland Worldwide. By the time she was 17 she was found by a modeling agent and worked steadily as a model after graduating from high school. In 1984, she was featured in the Sports Illustrated magazine and continued to appear for 13 consecutive years. In 1988 she began moved on to acting and performed in a number of films such Melrose Place, Mr. Destiny, and National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1.
During the early 1990’s, Ireland moved her interests to entrepreneur opportunities and by 1993; she had placed her name on a line of socks. K-mart later announced the socks to be their best seller, which prompted the retailer to give Kathy her own clothing line. She then moved on to found the “Kathy Ireland Worldwide” brand and still holds a majority stake in the company. By 2004, the company marketed products from 16 different manufacturers including some famous furniture brands like Standard Furniture.
