Options to Consider When Remodeling Your Bathroom

Most of us have been there, we’ve either been in our house for years or we’ve purchased an older home. Either way, that bathroom just isn’t what it was when it was first put in. The tiles are falling off, the floor is pealing, the toilet is leaking and the bathtub is green. No matter how you look at it the time has come to consider remodeling your bathroom. But where do you start? Do you do it yourself or contract it out? A lot of this has to do with how much money and time you have. If you have lots of time and little money than do it yourself, if you have lots of money and little time then contract it out. Of course if you just enjoy the hands on aspect of remodeling then you can do it yourself.
If you choose to hire a contractor take a look around before jumping in and making a commitment. Do you know of anyone who recently went through a remodel that could provide a recommendation? How about your local chamber of commerce? Whatever you do seek out at least three firm priced bids and ask each for references that you can check up on. If you’re not 100% satisfied with the choices before you then keep looking.
If you are interested in doing it yourself then start the planning. If you are simply doing a remodel of the toilet, tub, sink, etc. then you can start pricing and planning out how you’ll go about doing it. If you are looking at moving things around then you may want to consider getting some expert advice before jumping in. All DIY bathroom remodeling isn’t created equal.
After you gather information from contractors and the DIY option you’ll be in a position to choose which alternative best fits your needs.
