Protecting Your Swimming Pool When It Snows

Even though you close your swimming pool for the winter each year it’s still important to take care of your swimming pool during those months. Your swimming pool cover protects your pool water from becoming dirty and gross and in turn that protects your liner and top rail. But what about your poor old swimming pool cover, who is going to protect that? That’s why you should always keep an eye on your pool cover during the winter months where pool care is also needed.
During the winter months your pool still goes through the elements including rain, sleet and snow and snow can be one of the easiest problems to deal with other than rain and sleet. If too much rain and sleet piles on top of your swimming pool cover then that can cause a number of problems that you will have to deal with. 
For above ground swimming pools your cover may be weak or cheap which is ok but that means you just need to take better care of it so that it will last you a number of years. So when it rains in the winter be sure to use a pool cover pump to get all the water off your cover. This will keep it from weighing down your cover and stretching it which will damage it and it also protects your pool wall since your cover won’t be putting tension on your walls.
For snow it’s even easier to remove because you don’t need a pump. All you need is a broom and as it snows or when it’s done snowing your can just use the broom to sweep off the snow from your pool cover. This is so easy to do plus you won’t have to pull out your pump when the snow metls or turns into ice.
