The Many Types of Plasma TV Stands

If you have recently purchased a new TV, it is very likely that it was either a plasma TV or an LCD TV. Regardless of what type of TV you own, it requires a special stand because of the way it is made. This is especially true if you are upgrading your TV from an obsolete CRT monitor to a newer HDTV model, since nearly all HDTVs are widescreen and require a fair amount of space lengthwise rather than deep.
This is why you will need to purchase a new TV stand in order to accommodate your new entertainment system. With so many different types of plasma TV stands available on the market, this decision comes down to what material you want the stand to be made from, as well as where you want to place it in your home, such as against a wall, or in a corner. Even if you wall mount your TV, you will still need some kind of stand to hold all of the peripherals that will need to be connected, such as TiVo, Blu-Ray, and any gaming consoles you may own.
Corner TV stands are popular space saving designs for HDTV home use that come in a wide variety of styles, from wooden and metal to made of glass. 
The style you choose should take your surroundings into consideration, since owning a glass stand with small children or pets is a poor idea. Wooden or metal stands offer the most secure set up for your display, but they can be expensive if you purchase a piece that is real wood instead of pressed particle board. Expect to pay anywhere from $300 to $500 for a decent model to display all of your peripherals along with your TV, but the good news is that modern stands are much easier to clean than the old entertainment systems that everyone seemed so fond of in the ’90s.
