Things to Look Out for When Choosing a New Mattress
Posted by Marylou Biederman in Bedroom
If you own a really good quality mattress, you will be well aware of the benefits it provides you in terms of comfort and support while you are asleep. You obviously know the things to look out for when you chose your new mattress, but unfortunately that can’t be said for everybody. It’s perhaps unsurprising that most of us are unsure what we should be looking for in a great mattress, and it’s one of the main reasons why I always encourage people to read as many Mattress Reviews as they can before they commit to buying one type of mattress over another.
The mattress reviews should only ever be seen as a guide though, it would be foolish to invest any money based on nothing more than someone else’s point of view. It’s at this stage, that you need to commit some time to spend getting down and dirty with any mattresses that have caught your eye – you need to visit a mattress store (and if you don’t sleep alone, you need your partner to accompany you!). When you do try out some mattresses, you should be looking for 3 main things:
1. Is the mattress big enough for both of you to spread out?
2. Does it feel like the mattress supports you at all the points of your body that touch the mattress?
3. When you move around on the mattress, is your partner unaffected by the movement?
Once that criterion is met and you have a mattress you love, you should speak to the salesman about how much they are going to knock off the ticket price for you. Most stores are happy to negotiate with you on price, so make sure you know the best Internet prices available, as this will give you more leverage with the salesman. Some stores will try to charge you for delivery on top of the price you’ve just agreed – I find this annoying, because to me it’s just another way to squeeze extra money from you. I’ve never paid this and I’ve never heard of a store that will let you walk away from a deal because you said you wouldn’t pay it.
