Let’s face it: having only one bathroom in the house can be frustrating, especially if you have a family with many kids or if you are currently housing many guests. There may even come a point when you will wish you had another one somewhere in the house, just to be able to accommodate everyone. If you are someone who does indeed need to install another bathroom in the house, then maybe installing one in the basement can be of help.

Installing a basement bathroom toilet can be easy, but before you do so, you have to consider some things first. One, you have to determine a good location for your additional bathroom. It is advisable that you place it under or near your existing bathroom so that accessing sewers and drainage lines would be easier. Also, the location must be good enough for your pipes to have proper elevation and rise. Next, you have to consider your fixtures. If you are planning on putting a sink, a toilet or a bathtub in your additional bathroom, then you have to think about how to properly place the pipes that would be used for them, particularly for a toilet.

Flushing can be a trouble if you do not elevate your toilet right, but fortunately though there are special bathroom toilets out in the market that can solve this dilemma. The third thing you might want to consider is who would do the plumbing and the wiring. Of course you could do the installation yourself, but calling on a professional is also advisable. Also, even if you decide to do it yourself, you still have to call on an expert plumber and electrician to check your work. Last but not the least, you might want to add some common bathroom decorations and a proper heating system so that the room would not look and feel like a dungeon.

Having another bathroom in the house can be helpful, especially if you have many kids or many guests.
