Choosing Sheets for your Waterbed

If you’re new to owning a waterbed, you may be wondering why you can’t use bed sheets for a traditional mattress on your new bed. The problem is that sheets for a standard bed don’t allow for the depth of the waterbed mattress, which is a vinyl bladder filled with water. Waterbeds also doesn’t have hard sides like a traditional mattress, so a traditional sheet won’t fit right. You might be tempted to tuck a sheet around the waterbed mattress, but that can also move, bunch, and eventually slip off. The best solution for sleeping in comfort on a waterbed is to buy fitted waterbed sheets.
The most important factor in choosing waterbed sheets is the size, as with a standard mattress. Make sure you have the correct size of your bed before you begin your search. Also, sheets come in a variety of materials: cotton, satin, silk, and even bamboo. As with regular sheets, the quality of the fabric will affect price.
There are many options for sheets, depending on the type of bed you have. Typing waterbed sheets finder into your internet search engine will yield many options for purchasing the appropriate sheets. If your mattress is the soft-sided type, you can get elasticated sheets, or sheets with elastic straps or pockets on the corners. 
The elastic straps slide underneath the corner of the mattress to keep the sheet in place. The corner pocket sheets have flaps at the corners of the sheet for tucking under the mattress. In some types, these corner pockets are made of elastic as well.
For hard-sided waterbeds where there is limited space between the mattress and the frame, there is a special kind of sheet called a pole sheet. These sheets have pockets along the sides that a pole slides into to hold the sheet in place. Though they may be harder to fit, you can also use a pocket or elastic sheet. Whichever style you choose, waterbed sheets will allow you to have a better nights sleep.
