Wooden Porch Swings

The colors of wooden porch swings can be light or dark depending on the type of stain the wood has been treated with. Choosing a color that enhances your outdoor area is important so the swing doesn’t look as though it’s out of place. If you’re home has a lighter color to the exterior you could choose a swing made of oak or pine. The size of the swings that are for the porch area can be four feet in length or five feet. You want to measure your area before you make a purchase so you know the unit is going to fit.
Most porch swings come with chains that attach to the overhead beams of the porch area. The whole unit should be able to move freely without striking or rubbing against any wall surface. You can choose to leave the item the way it comes, as a hardwood surface for seating, or you can purchase a seat cushion to use on it. The cushions are available in a wide assortment of colors and patterns so you can coordinate it to match the area or your personality. Using a seat cushion will add more comfort to the wood swing so you can relax and stay seated for longer periods of time.
You can also find wooden porch swings available that are painted different colors. If you want to paint or stain your own, you can purchase an unfinished product and do it yourself. If you don’t have a covered porch and would like the benefit of having an outdoor swing, you can purchase a design that includes a metal or wood frame structure that includes an attached swing. These are generally referred to as gliders rather than swings, but they have the same basic performance and are also available in many styles and colors.
